italian food - modesto's @ vivocity

  • oh finally my last post on the food pics in my phone. lol.
  • had lunch at modesto's with colleagues, it is a very pricey italiean restaurant (which doesn't serve any FOC italian bread with vinegar like the Itallianis) thank God boss paid for the meal! yay :)
  • i was not feeling well so only shared a pumpkin soup & some pasta with elaine, my colleague... anyway the food was so-so only... yah, really so-so. nothing fantastic at all. somemore small portion. i dont think i will ever spend my own money at this place. never. lol.

pumpkin soup (2 of this portion) S$10.50++

thin crust fughi pizza (mushroom & cheese) S$20.50++ (a bit tasteless? or i was sick?)

alfredo shitake mushroom penne S$18 ++ (the lunchset come with a drink & a scoop of ice cream) (the red penne was ordered by another colleague, anchovies in tomato base, wow super salty. lol)

shimbashi soba @ paragon, orchard

one of my colleagues strongly recommended this handmade soba shop at paragon. i googled it and read many good reviews about the soba (esp cold soba). so, happily me and my colleagues went there one evening and gave it a try. i wonder whats so special bout the noodles!

my dinner set (cold soba, karaage, tempura, agedashi tofu, watermelon) = S$19.80++
being a non-sashimi lover, haha i order the set dinner without any raw fish swimming in the bento. oh well, perhaps i am not a soba person, i couldnt taste how special and how nice the soba texture was (sad right?!) the noodles are very Q, springy but... the portion is very small (japanese eat very little i guess, they dont add noodles like how we added our wanton mee, lol). looking at the long long queue, the people really know how to appreciate the soba? i doubt so. lol.
my colleague's set dinner @ S$25.90++
with this price in RM, i believe i will enjoy more at Njyumaru @ JB Permas, i still like their jap food. oh well, a good dining experience though, by looking at the japanese chef making soba. hehe.

'fancy delight' ~ egg tart in a cup

  • my colleague bought this back from IMM, SG.
  • a stall selling egg tarts in many flavours. it is special because it is in a little cup shape. we tried the chocolate flavour, blueberry flavour etc. very nice. the custard is very smooth! S$1.40 each. remember to buy one if you happen to drop by IMM, it is definitely better (tastier) than what we can get from JB's seasons, lavender... hehe. the pastry is different too :)

mille crepes

  • i ordered this french vanilla mille crepes from HumbleBeginnings for dajie's birthday, RM55 + RM10 (strawberry toppings). i couldnt believe i carried this 900gm cake over the causeway to Sg. i am pretty sure i will not do this again... haha too inconvenient. (a shop at clementi in Sg also famous of their mille crepes cakes but it is S$75 for a kilo! almost RM180 for a cake... can u imagine... lol)
  • yeah it taste very nice (but a little bit sweet for me... oh well i m not a sweet tooth person) they arrange delivery and remember to call them 3 days earlier to book the cake.
  • check their website out http://www.humblebeginnings.com.my
  • service is good :)

soup spoon @ bugis

  • being a soupy person, everytime i pass by soup-spoon and i have the urge of giving it a try. finally got a chance to have dinner with dajie and i suggested this place. i think we order a set meal, a bowl of soup + a drink + a half portion of salad/wrap/sandwich (your choice) cost about S$10 after tax.
  • I ordered my pumpkin soup and argh! a total disappointment. FAIL. i wonder what type of pumpkin they used, perhaps its not my favourite japanese pumpkin coz i couldnt taste the sweetness at all. The wrap and the salad were not good either, i couldnt be bothered to take any pics. anyway if you pop by and would like a try, their mushroom soup is not bad.

tuk-tuk thai restaurant

we celebrated dajie's birthday at this TukTuk Thai Restaurant at Suntec City, SG.
the food were real good especially with the affordable price.

how can we not order SongTam? the papaya salad. and also the pineapple fried rice.

we also ordered 2 different type of tomyam soup, one with coconut milk, one is clear soup. spicy and sour enough! yummm!!! the hotpan spicy chicken below was very tasty as well. Thai green curry was not bad too.

we were there in the month of May and Citibank holder has the privilege of getting this fried seabass at only S$8! it is not very big but really worth the price. crispy, spicy and the fish is very fresh. altogether we ordered 8 dishes + rice + drinks and the total bill is S$75 for 5 people (i think Citibank holders have 10% discount if not wrong) Good deal, good food. Strongly recommended!
