Mission Trip to Mae Salong, Thailand

(From 01/12 till 08/12/2007)

This mission trip was so different with the previous two that i went.
Other than the fresh air, beautiful scenery and cooling weather, I am able to communicate with the locals in mandarin!
It was truly a very memorable trip.
Our Mae Salong team consists of 10 wonderful people, ie our leader Hup2, Wendy, Yongxing, Xizhe, Reuben, Joseph, PeiPei, Yuanling, Jiaying and myself.
My first mission trip to chiangmai last year, God taught me that mission trip was not about how many hands raised to accept Jesus, He taught me the skills in sharing gospel with the locals even though I don’t really know how to communicate in Thai.

Second trip to Philippines, I experienced God’s power in sustaining me when I was very sick and was reminded by His faithfulness and His strong love for me. Encountered with Holy Spirit and experienced that rare closeness with Him.

This time round God gave me opportunity to preach a sermon in mandarin, this was truly a great challenge for me. I preached about “do you desire a close the relationship with Jesus?” I was very encouraged when about 10 teenagers raised their hands and re-commit themselves to Jesus.

Another great challenge was to teach 2 hrs in a class of 50 (average) students – Two of us have to take a class! It was not easy but all of us did well and the students love us so much! Hehe. I was very touched by the teachers there as they only drew very little salary for the purpose to stay on in the school so that they could preach gospel to the students.
Also, I was extremely touched to see how poor the locals there, especially Akha Tribe, yet their desire and love for God was so strong and they are on fire for God each day. They have to walk around 2 hours to church, but they never fail to do that. Though they are illiterate, they desire to hear the Words of God. They have nothing, no car, no house, no money, still they offer up their best to God and amazingly how God bless them in return.
This time round, God has shown me the purpose of a mission trip – it is not about the number of people who got saved, it is:- 1. the bonding of the team members; 2.the support given to the local churches, missionaries; 3.to encourage the local Christians; lastly, 4.is to share the gospel to the non Christians if given chance.
Many memorable memories and our team’s bonding is truly strong! God gave me revelations in my spiritual life.
Indeed God is good and mission trip is addictive!
